How Are You Spending YOUR 28,000 Days?

A new Alicia Keys track entitled, 28 Thousand Days is starting to burn up the charts as listeners finally really ponder the message in the song.  As the fog of drunken, party-filled summers begins to lift.  In the song, she asks listeners what they'd do if they only had 28,000 days, around the average lifespan of Americans.  She asks:
If you had 28 thousand days
Who would you love? Where would you go?
What would you celebrate?
I'm telling you that life's too short to just throw it away
So have the time of your life, so have the time of your life
Those are some DEEP questions when you realize that a year is 365 days and you're pretty close to hitting the halfway mark on your allotment.  I mean, of course, we all want to live longer than 76 years, but it's those years that come well before you reach that stage that you're able to really make an impact in this world.

The first question Alicia asks isn't, "What would you buy?".  It's not even "What would you do?"  It's "Who would you love?" So many of us spend time chasing the wrong things that we forget one of the most basic necessities in life -- love.  There's so much turmoil in the world and so much uncertainty, don't waste your time on bullshit and don't waste your time on dead end love affairs.  If there's no love and you can't seem to get it back, pick up the pieces and move on.  The lyrics in that Alicia Keys song are so simple, but they're powerful, and you'd better listen the next time you cross that song on the FM dial.  The clock is ticking and we don't have a second to waste.  If you love someone, let them know.  If you don't, let them know and free them so they can be with someone who does.

Then, "have the time of your life"!  Find the people and the things that you love and give them your all!  The clock is ticking!  Check out A Keys, below, and have a great week!  Tell us how you're spending your 28,000 days in the comments!

P.S. I'm shooting for at LEAST 35,000 days, myself.  --Shana James

  1. Hmmm Shana. With thousands of days already spent, there are so many things I wish I knew before now. But sometimes I don't even look at the time, because our lives can end at anytime. We should live as if we have only today to live on earth that is the true essence of humanity. While the road in life can take many forms, we are uniquely different in the way we walk the path of destiny.
